| Summary, etc. | À partir des avancées réalisées en anthropologie de l’enfance et dans les Childhood Studies, et en se basant principalement sur les acquis de l’anthropologie générale, cet article pose les jalons d’une possible anthropologie de la petite enfance et des bébés qui en est encore à ses balbutiements. Ce projet repose sur l’articulation de trois dimensions indissociables – construction sociale et symbolique de la petite enfance, agency du bébé et bébé comme sujet – et sur l’exploration des conditions de possibilité d’une approche anthropologique reposant sur l’observation participante avec les bébés. Cette dernière nécessite de prendre en compte ce que j’appelle les « cultures locales de l’ agency » et d’interroger la nécessité d’une méthodologie particulière avec les bébés. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper aims proposing to develop the burgeoning anthropology of infancy and babies by taking into account the contribution of the anthropology of childhood, the Childhood Studies and the anthropological knowledge. This project is based on three inseparable interwined dimensions : the social and symbolic construction of infancy, the baby’s agency and the conception of the baby as a subject. It also requires exploring the conditions of possibility of an anthropological approach based on participant observation with babies. Participant observation involves taking into account what I call “the local cultures of agency” and determining whether a specific methodology is needed with babies. |

| Summary, etc. | Este artículo propone desarrollar la balbuceante antropología de la primera infancia a partir de los aportes de la antropología de la infancia y de los Childhood Studies, y basándose en la antropología general. El proyecto considera vincular tres dimensiones inseparables (la construcción social y simbólica de la primera infancia, la agency del bebé y el bebé como sujeto) y la exploración de las condiciones de posibilidad de un abordaje antropológico basado en la observación participativa con los bebés. La observación participativa requiere tomar en cuenta lo que yo llamo “las culturas locales de la agency” y preguntarse si se necesita usar una metodología específica con los bebés. |
