| Summary, etc. | Managing sustainable development and environmental performance is a legal requirement for universities, yet this doesn’t seem to translate into actions. The low roll-out of specific management tools is explained both by the difficulties in implementing any control system in universities, and by those specific to environmental control systems. Two other factors play an important role in this implementation: the political will of management teams and universities’ “culture of control.” A survey carried out in four French universities will help us to understand the obstacles and success factors and draw a cartography of environmental control systems. |
