Summary, etc. | Naturally, there is a sociological point of view about Christian ecumenism, a point of view all the more legitimate as ecumenism has many varieties. But this same point of view inevitably points to diverse conflicts that are at the origin of confessional differences. Thus, the anthropological importance of Catholic-Protestant differences are, for the most part, founded and revealed. Along the way the author cites the numbers in surveys that reveal the awareness of belonging, and therefore identity. The consequence is the difference between how ecclesiastical actors and organizations live religion ecumenically. This is due to a certain contemporary blurring of confessional differences. Beyond the logic of returning to one’s confession and concern about identity, the author asks himself if this ultra modernity is not a sign of the end of ecumenism. |
