520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. In a conference held in 1967, Michel FOUCAULT elaborated on the concept of heterotopia using six principles inspired by images for which he offered visual examples. This text builds upon his principles in order to imagine what the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) could become over the twenty-first century. This review of the SSE through the lens of heterotopian principles gives a better understanding of it and questions its independence, its democratic governance, its ability to reconcile values and connect industries, the support it provides during ruptures or the “supplement of soul” it adds, how open or closed it is, and its function in the societal space. This critical debate raises six points about the future of the Social Economy in European culture, its role of communicating practices and values, its role of modern empowerment, and its organic integration.
