| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’orientation pour le développement du cycle de Doha a émergé d’un nouvel esprit de responsabilité vis-à-vis des défis auxquels font face les pays pauvres et des sentiments d’inéquités engendrés par les cycles de négociations commerciales antérieurs. Cette étude propose une nouvelle orientation pour le cycle de Doha, fondée sur des principes d’équité sociale et d’analyse économique. Elle analyse le programme des négociations commerciales du point de vue d’une série de principes et présente des priorités en faveur du développement qui devraient être au cœur du cycle de Doha afin d’assurer l’adhésion générale aux programmes de réformes commerciales et de libéralisation.Classification JEL : F13, O10 |

| Summary, etc. | The development focus of the Doha Round emerged from a renewed spirit of responsibility for the challenges faced by poor countries and the perceived inequities generated by previous rounds of trade negotiations. This study presents an alternative way forward for the Doha Round based on principles of social justice and economic analysis. It looks at the trade negotiation agenda from the perspective of first principles, presenting pro-development priorities that should form the core of the Doha Round agreements if there is to be widespread support for the continuing agenda for trade reform and liberalization. |
