| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes enfants qui acquièrent leur langue maternelle doivent apprendre, entre autres choses, les mots de cette langue. Pour ce faire, ils doivent d’une part extraire la forme sonore des mots donc segmenter la parole continue. Nous verrons dans une première partie que les informations prosodiques sont utilisées par les jeunes enfants pour trouver où commencent et où finissent les mots dans les phrases. D’autre part, les enfants doivent ensuite réussir à assigner un sens à ces formes sonores et nous verrons, dans une deuxième partie, que cette tâche peut être facilitée par certaines connaissances syntaxiques, comme la connaissance de la catégorie grammaticale des mots. À nouveau, nous verrons que la prosodie a un rôle à jouer dans cette tâche, de manière conjointe avec d’autres indices présents dans le signal de parole, les mots grammaticaux. |

| Summary, etc. | Discovering words: the role of prosody in lexical and syntactic acquisitionInfants acquiring their native language have to learn, among other things, the words of this language. To this end, they have to extract word forms from the continuous speech stream, therefore they need to segment it. In the first section, we will show that prosodic cues are used by young infants in order to find where words begin and end in sentences. In addition, infants have to assign a meaning to these word forms. In the second section, we will see that this task may be facilitated by some syntactic knowledge, such as the grammatical category of words. Once again, we will show that phrasal prosody may be helpful for this task, together with grammatical words, that are directly available in the speech signal. |
