| Summary, etc. | Les espaces de coworking et les tiers-lieux, apparus en Californie au début des années 2000, se sont multipliés dans les espaces ruraux au cours des cinq dernières années. Appuyés par des politiques publiques volontaristes à l’échelon local, ces espaces sont fréquemment décrits comme des lieux d’innovation et de renaissance rurale. En nous appuyant sur une enquête de 18 mois en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, nous montrons que ces espaces se situent dans la continuité des mutations sociales et démographiques des campagnes attractives et résidentielles, à la fois dans les opportunités de sociabilité qu’ils créent et dans leur affinité avec les codes et les discours de la néo-ruralité contemporaine. |

| Summary, etc. | Coworking spaces and third places emerged in California in the early 2000s, and have spread across rural areas over the past five years. They are frequently described as places of innovation and rural renewal, and attract support from proactive public policies. This article is based on an 18-month survey in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. We show that these new places illustrate the social and demographic changes taking place in attractive rural areas, both in the opportunities for sociability to which they give rise, and in their affinity with the codes and narratives of contemporary lifestyle migration to the countryside. |
