| Summary, etc. | L’émergence de la finance entrepreneuriale en tant que domaine de recherche procède d’une double dynamique. Du côté des chercheurs en entrepreneuriat, il s’est agi de mieux prendre en compte le fait financier, qui est présent dans tout projet entrepreneurial. De leur côté, les financiers ont progressivement reconnu que les situations entrepreneuriales présentaient des spécificités, sur lesquelles il convenait de se pencher.Un essai de délimitation du champ de la finance entrepreneuriale, à travers l’identification des différentes thématiques associées, est d’abord proposé, à partir d’une approche processuelle, puis d’une approche synthétique.Puis, un état des lieux critique de la recherche en finance entrepreneuriale est présenté, sur la base d’une quantification des travaux dans chacune des thématiques identifiées. Ce panorama fait apparaître plusieurs biais : une focalisation des publications sur le financement par capital-risque, une concentration des travaux sur les phases avancées de l’aventure entrepreneuriale, un manque relatif d’intérêt pour les problématiques liées à la gestion financière des jeunes sociétés et une utilisation trop fréquente d’hypothèses inadaptées à l’entreprise nouvelle.Afin de corriger ces biais, plusieurs défis sont proposés : militer pour une plus grande ouverture méthodologique et disciplinaire, s’intéresser davantage à « l’amont » de l’aventure entrepreneuriale, revisiter les problématiques de la gestion financière de la jeune entreprise et enfin rattraper le retard francophone en matière de connaissance en finance entrepreneuriale. |

| Summary, etc. | To refocus research in entrepreneurial financeThe development of entrepreneurial finance as a field of management research has grown out of a double dynamic. For researchers in entrepreneurship it involves looking into the financial dimension of entrepreneurial projects. And finance researchers have also progressively recognized that entrepreneurship has its own characteristics, which need to be taken into account. We will approach the entrepreneurial finance research field from two different angles: Firstly, through a process approach and then a synthetic approach. We will then give a critical overview of the research in the different fields of entrepreneurial finance through a bibliometrical analysis. This survey shows clearly the weaknesses in the field of entrepreneurial finance research: Academic papers focus on venture capital, with many papers on the late stages of entrepreneurship venture. There are very few articles on financial management of new ventures and too often researchers use financial hypotheses developed for larger firms. Several suggestions are put forward to improve this situation: the use of new methodologies and the integration of other disciplines of research. More research should focus on the first stages of entrepreneurial venture and new venture financial management. Finally French-speaking entrepreneurial finance research should be developed. |
