| Summary, etc. | Dodos auf der Flucht (Dodos en fuite ; 2018) de Mikael Vogel offre de l'extinction de nombreuses espèces animales une approche particulière dans plus de 140 poèmes : Vogel ne perçoit pas la rapide extinction de masse comme un signe de la crise de la biodiversité et des écosystèmes dont on parle souvent, mais avant tout comme une crise et une perte culturelles. Cet article souligne l’appréhension par Vogel de la perte des espèces en abordant trois caractéristiques essentielles de sa poésie : Vogel rappelle d’abord le destin dramatique des animaux dans des poèmes élégiaques. Le poète étend de plus la complainte élégiaque aux cultures et langues indigènes également menacées et (re)construit finalement une histoire complète de l'impact bestial de l’« Homo destructivus » depuis la préhistoire jusqu'à la fin annoncée de l'histoire naturelle et culturelle. Ainsi, l'extinction des espèces et des cultures, causée par la « bête humaine », se clôt-elle, dans ce « bestiaire », par un chant du cygne aux accents de critique culturelle, voire de pessimisme culturel, pour l'espèce humaine. |

| Summary, etc. | Mikael Vogel's Dodos auf der Flucht (Dodos on the Run; 2018) gives the extinction of numerous animal species a peculiar contour in more than 140 poems: Vogel does not emphasize the rapid mass extinction primarily as a sign of the frequently discussed biodiversity and ecosystem crisis, but above all as a cultural crisis and loss. This paper reveals Vogel’s particular accentuation of species loss in three essential characteristics of his poetry: First, Vogel recalls the dramatic fate of animals in anti-compensatory elegiac poems. Second, the poet extends the elegiac lament to equally threatened indigenous cultures and languages. Third, he (re‑)constructs a comprehensive history of the bestial impact of 'Homo destructivus' from prehistoric times to the predicted end of natural and cultural history. Thus, the crisis of extinction of species and cultures caused by the ‘human beast’ ends in this ‘bestiary’, as the author has apostrophized his book, in a culturally critical, if not culturally pessimistic swan song for the human species. |

| Summary, etc. | Mikael Vogels Gedichtband Dodos auf der Flucht (2018) verleiht dem Aussterben zahlreicher Tierarten in mehr als 140 Gedichten eine eigenwillige Kontur: Das sich gegenwärtig rasant vollziehende Massensterben akzentuiert der Band nicht vorrangig als Zeichen der vieldiskutierten Biodiversitäts- und Ökosystemkrise, sondern vor allem als kulturelle Krisen- und Verlusterfahrung. Diese besondere Akzentuierung des Artenschwunds zeigt der vorliegende Beitrag an drei wesentlichen Charakteristika des Gedichtbandes auf: 1. erinnert der Band an die drastisch endenden Tierschicksale in der Form anti-kompensatorischer Klage- und Trauergedichte; 2. weitet der Lyriker die elegische Klage auf gleichermaßen bedrohte indigene Kulturen und Sprachen aus und 3. (re-)konstruiert er eine umfängliche Historie des bestialischen Wirkens des ‚Homo destructivus‘ von der Urzeit bis zum prognostizierten Ende der Natur- und Kulturgeschichte. Somit mündet die durch die Bestie Mensch verursachte Krise des Arten- und Kulturensterbens in diesem als ‚Bestiarium‘ apostrophierten Gedichtband in einen kulturkritischen, wenn nicht kulturpessimistischen Abgesang auf die menschliche Spezies. |
