| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article, composé de trois essais interdépendants, explore la signification et l’impact de la notion d’innovation sociale sur le changement sociétal, et en particulier le développement territorial. À partir d’une brève recension des écrits sur le sujet, le premier essai examine la genèse du terme « innovation sociale » au sein des sciences sociales et humaines. Le deuxième essai est centré sur le rôle de l’innovation sociale pour la modélisation théorique de la région sociale, à partir de l’articulation des différents types de capital selon Bourdieu et O’Hara. L’essai final présente la philosophie de l’innovation sociale telle qu’elle a été appliquée dans le développement territorialement intégré. Les auteurs expliquent que le Développement Territorialement Intégré ne réussira que si sa mise en application suit la logique de « l’économie de la diversité ». |

| Summary, etc. | This article, which consists of three interconnected essays, dwells on the meaning and impact of social innovation in societal change, and in particular in territorial development. By way of a condensed literature review, the first essay examines the genesis of the term social innovation in social science and humanities. The second essay focuses on the role of social innovation in theorising the model of the Social Region starting from the articulation between the various types of capital according to Bourdieu and O’Hara. The final essay presents the philosophy of social innovation as it has been applied in Integrated Area Development. It is argued that Integrated Area Development will only be successful if it is implemented according to the logic of the "economy of diversity". |
