Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Isolation and solitude of old people by a demographer’s eyeTalking about solitude doesn’t always mean talking about lonely people and, conversely, talking about lonely people doesn’t necessarily help approaching solitude. Solitude isn’t measured in terms of isolation : it is more a feeling than a characteristic. One can be isolated in many different ways : geographically, socially, emotionally, but one might also feel solitude without showing any of isolation criteria. In this article, we’ll have a demographer’s eye on how to tackle this sensitive issue and will reconsider the main indicators which now allow us to measure isolation and apprehend grasp solitude. |
