Summary, etc. | Si la formation professionnelle des agriculteurs a longtemps souffert du désintérêt des politiques éducatives et de formation, tant le travail de la terre était associé davantage à un état qu’à un métier, celle des agricultrices a été encore plus fortement invisibilisée, tant il était nécessaire de les cantonner à leur rôle de mère, d’épouse et de gardienne du foyer. La transformation profonde de l’agriculture, notamment à partir des années 1950, n’a que difficilement entamé ce rapport de force qui reste encore aujourd’hui au cœur des revendications. Cet article, à travers l’exploitation de sources audiovisuelles originales issues des collections de l’Institut national de l’audiovisuel (INA), souhaite montrer comment ces positions genrées se sont construites et perpétuées par l’intermédiaire des images et des discours qui ont contribué à les façonner mais aussi à les rendre visibles, à une période où la télévision s’installe comme un média de masse. |

Summary, etc. | Vocational education for farmers has long been neglected in education policies or, more precisely, there is a significant gap between rhetoric and reality. This can be explained by the specific nature of agricultural work, which is considered not only a job, but also a social function, with an even greater impact for women, who are first and foremost considered as mother and wife. The great transformation in French agriculture from 1950 has changed the situation very little and women farmers still have little access to vocational education. Using a wide selection of audiovisual sources from the collections of French television archives (INA), this paper seeks to show how the gender roles of women farmers have adapted and renewed themselves in spite of the rapid changes in agriculture and society. Moving pictures helped to build and disseminate such representations at a time when television was becoming the first mass medium. |
