| Summary, etc. | Cet article présente une recherche en cours sur les listes de paiement des ateliers du grand-duc de Toscane entre la fin du xvie siècle et le début du xviiie siècle, en se concentrant ici sur la première période des registres, correspondant aux deux grands-ducs Médicis François Ier et Ferdinand Ier. Ces sources exceptionnelles sont utilisées pour faire une histoire des rémunérations. Comment s’établissent celles-ci dans des secteurs très qualifiés, en dehors du système corporatif ? Quelles en sont les échelles et quelle est l’ampleur de la « prime de qualification » ? Assiste-t-on à une individualisation des appointements ou, au contraire, à une tendance forte vers leur standardisation ? Surtout, il s’agit de réintroduire le temps de travail dans les calculs des rémunérations et de montrer les avantages d’une étude qualitative et individuelle. |

| Summary, etc. | This article presents ongoing research on the payrolls of the workshops of the Grand Duke of Tuscany between the late sixteenth and early eighteenth centuries, focusing here on the first period of the registers, corresponding to the two Medici Grand Dukes, Francis I and Ferdinand I. These exceptional sources are used to retrace the history of wages. How were wages fixed in highly qualified sectors, outside the corporate system? What were the pay scales and how large was the “skills premium”? Did this reflect an individualization of pay or, on the contrary, a strong tendency towards standardization? The main aim here is to reintroduce working hours into the calculation of wages and to show the advantages of a qualitative study of individual pay. |
