Après avoir cherché à comprendre les raisons de cette critique sévère, l’article propose une évaluation plus équilibrée. Les chrétiens goanais constituent en Inde une modalité originale d’acculturation, née de la rencontre des influences portugaises et autochtones. |

| Summary, etc. | The catholic missions which are under the dependance of Portuguese padroado, and escape the exclusive authority of Rome after the foundation of the congregation Propaganda fide in 1622, are presented in the missionary literature in a very negative light, especially Indian dioceses (Goa). Having tried to understand the reasons of this severe criticism, the article proposes a more balanced assessment. The Goan Christians in India are an original mode of acculturation, born from the meeting of Portuguese and native influences. |
