| Summary, etc. | Résumé Ernest Morin (1828-1900) a rédigé son journal de propriétaire exploitant « au déclin de sa vie » pour guider ses successeurs dans la conduite de l’exploitation. Ce document constitue un témoignage rare, puisqu’il embrasse un demi-siècle d’histoire agricole, la mise en place de la monoculture languedocienne, les crises de l’oïdium et du phylloxera, les débuts de la crise de mévente des années 1900. Sur des terres aptes à produire des vins de qualité, Ernest Morin dirige la constitution puis la reconstitution du vignoble sur son « bien de village », en ayant le souci de l’autofinancement et de la recherche agronomique. |

| Summary, etc. | Ernest Morin (1828-1900) wrote his memoirs as an owner-occupier « at the dusk of his life », to provide guidance to his heirs in the management of the concern. This document is a rare testimony covering half a century of agricultural history, including the development of single-crop farming in Languedoc, the oïdium and phylloxera crises, and the beginnings of the sales slump in the 1900s. On lands which were suitable to the growing of high-quality wine, Ernest Morin oversaw the creation, then replanting of his vineyard on his own « village plot », all the while careful the self-financing of his business and his keeping abreast of agronomical research. |
