Summary, etc. | RésuméCourchevel, dans les Trois Vallées est aujourd’hui un domaine d’exception grâce à ses dimensions -celles d’un des plus grands domaines skiables du monde- et grâce aux hommes qui ont fait son histoire ; son site a des atouts naturels et géographiques extraordinaires ; l’esprit inventif des pionniers qui l’ont imaginée perdure encore aujourd’hui. Dès 1980, Courchevel explose grâce au confort de son hôtellerie, à la qualité de vie et de l’accueil qui y règnent, au bouche à oreille qui attire les élites.L’hôtellerie n’est certes pas l’unique raison de son succès qui en fait aujourd’hui l’une des stations les plus renommées du monde mais elle y a largement contribué, ceci dès ses débuts autour de 1950. Cet article a pour objectif d’évaluer le rôle joué par l’hôtellerie de luxe dans le développement et le succès d’une station de sports d’hiver qui concentre probablement le plus grand nombre de palaces au monde et continue aujourd’hui à en construire. |

Summary, etc. | Courchevel, in the Three Valleys is today an exceptional ski resort through its sheer size – it is the largest ski resort in the world – and through the men that were involved in its history; its site boasts incredible natural and geographical assets; the inventiveness of the pioneers who conceived it still lives on today. As early as 1980, Courchevel experienced a boom thanks to the comfort of its hotels, to the quality of life and of the hospitality that prevail, to word of mouth, which attracts the elites.The hospitality business is not admittedly the sole reason for its success as one of today’s most exclusive skiing destinations in the world but it has to a great extent contributed to it, and has done so since the outset in 1950. This article aims at assessing the role played by the luxury hospitality business in the development and the success of a ski resort that probably numbers the greatest quantity of palaces in the world and continues erecting them today. |
