| Summary, etc. | En détruisant entièrement la ville de Paradise (27 000 habitant·e.s) et ses environs, l’incendie le plus meurtrier de l’histoire des États-Unis a provoqué un choc important. Cet article s’intéresse à la façon dont cette catastrophe a affecté l’attachement à la forêt. En partant du choc de découvrir le paysage incendié, il s’agit de comprendre de quoi est fait cet attachement. Nous analysons aussi bien les récits qui racontent cet attachement après l’incendie que le rapport aux institutions en charge de la gestion des forêts. L’incendie a bouleversé le rapport au paysage et fait de l’expérience de vivre dans une forêt sans arbre une situation déroutante. |

| Summary, etc. | By completely destroying the city of Paradise (27 000 inhabitants) and its surroundings, the deadliest fire in the history of the United States caused a major shock. This article looks at how this disaster affected the attachment to the forest. Starting from the shock of discovering the burnt landscape, the goal is to understand what this attachment is made of. On one hand we analyze how the stories tell this attachment after the fire, on the other hand we analyze how the relationship to the institutions in charge of forest management has been impacted. The fire has upset the relationship to the landscape and made the experience of living in a treeless forest a puzzling situation. |
