| Summary, etc. | Objectif : L’objectif du présent article est d’analyser le rôle de la maîtrise de la démographie professionnelle des chirurgiens-dentistes dans la satisfaction des besoins en santé bucco-dentaire de la population en France. Méthodes : Nous examinons l’évolution générale de la démographie professionnelle des chirurgiens-dentistes de 1990 à 2011. Nous utilisons la méthodologie de la classification ascendante hiérarchique (CAH) pour regrouper les régions en fonction de variables de démographie professionnelle, de santé et de situation économique. Nous examinons la politique démographique entreprise afin de répondre aux besoins de santé bucco-dentaire de la population. Résultats : Nous constatons que les effectifs de chirurgiens-dentistes ont pratiquement stagné. Leur répartition sur le territoire français présente d’importantes disparités. La profession est majoritairement libérale. La CAH montre que les régions françaises les mieux dotées en chirurgiens-dentistes, en facultés d’odontologie et en spécialistes ODF sont aussi les plus développées. L’espérance de vie y est plus forte. Les principales mesures de la politique démographique portent sur le numerus clausus, le soutien à l’exercice groupé, les bourses d’études, les aides à l’installation ou au maintien de l’exercice en zones déficitaires, l’adaptation de la formation initiale. Conclusion : Ces résultats montrent l’importance de la politique démographique, de la politique de prévention et des actions d’éducation à la santé bucco-dentaire en milieu scolaire. |

| Summary, etc. | Professional demography of dentists in France Aim : The aim of this paper is to analyze the role of the control of the professional demography of dentists in the satisfaction of needs in oral health of the population in France. Methods : We examine the general evolution of the professional demography of dentists from 1990 till 2011. We use the methodology of Hierarchical Ascendant Classification (HAC) to regroup regions according to variables of professional demography, health and economic situation. We examine undertaken demographic policy to meet needs of oral health of the population. Results : We note that the number of dentists in practice stagnated. Their distribution in the French territory shows important disparities. The profession is predominantly liberal. The HAC shows that the French regions best endowed in dentists, in faculties of dentistry and in specialists are the most developed and life expectancy is there longer. The main instruments of the demographic policy concern the numerus clausus, the support of work groups, the grants of studies, the helps to the installation or to the maintenance of dentists in zones showing a deficit, the adaptation of initial training. Conclusion : These results show the importance of demographic policy, policy of prevention and actions of education in oral health in school. |
