La pratique est inscrite de longue date dans l’histoire judiciaire mais elle n’apparaît pas toujours dans les archives, néanmoins elle est loin d’être absente. Cet article propose d’explorer les fonds judiciaires bretons du xviiie au xixe siècle, afin d’éclairer une pratique à laquelle la société se montre particulièrement sensible. Qui sont les « uxoricides » ? Quels sont les formes et les motifs de leur geste ? Comment la justice sanctionne-t-elle cette forme particulière de criminalité de l’Ancien Régime à l’instauration du Code pénal ? Autant de questions auxquelles ce travail sur la Bretagne propose d’apporter des éléments de réponses. |

| Summary, etc. | The murder of spouses is not an invention of our contemporary societies. The practice is included in the long legal history but it does not always appear in the archives, though it is far from absent. This article aims to explore the Breton court funds from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, to put in evidence a practice which the society is particularly sensitive. Who are the “uxoricides”? What are the forms and the reasons for their actions? How justice punishes this particular form of crime from the old regime to the establishment of the Criminal Code? Questions that this paper on Brittany proposes to provide some answers |
