520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | The Arab spring as drawn by cartoonist Godfrey Mwampembwa (aka Gado)In this article, Alexander Panov analyzes and interprets the work of Gado, one of Africa’s best-know political caricaturists. Panov uses a series of press cartoons about the Arab Spring, published from October 2010 through December 2011, to decipher perceptions about the sociopolitical process in North and East Africa. He finds that when these cartoons were published, many activists, journalists, commentators and readers thought that the popular uprisings in North Africa could also become a reality in sub-Saharan Africa. |
