| Summary, etc. | Le paysage agricole des régions de la savane ivoirienne est très différent aujourd’hui, comparé à il y a seulement vingt ans. Le changement le plus important a été l’expansion des vergers de noix de cajou et le déclin relatif de la superficie cotonnière. Cet article cherche à expliquer cette transformation agricole, en examinant la prise de décision des agriculteurs dans l’économie politique plus large de la Côte d’Ivoire et l’histoire du développement agricole de la région. Cette recherche combine des méthodes de recherche quantitatives et qualitatives à plusieurs échelles pour comprendre la dynamique de ce changement agraire. Les structures de marché contrastées et les prix à la production dans les secteurs du coton et de la noix de cajou expliquent en grande partie ce changement dans l’économie et les paysages agricoles. |

| Summary, etc. | The agricultural landscape of the Ivoirian savannah regions is very different today than it was just twenty years ago. The largest change has been the expansion of cashew nut orchards and the relative decline of cotton crops. This article seeks to explain this agricultural transformation by examining the decision of farmers within the broader political economy of Côte d’Ivoire and the history of agricultural development in the region. The research combines quantitative and qualitative research methods on several scales to understand the dynamics behind this agrarian change. The contrasted market structures and producer prices in the cotton and cashew nut sectors largely explain this change in the local economy and agricultural landscape. |
