| Summary, etc. | Le monde de l’énergie est dans une ère de profonde mutation marquée par la révolution que certains qualifient « des 3 D » : décarbonation, décentralisation et digitalisation du secteur de l’énergie. Face à ces transformations majeures, l’Afrique occupe une position singulière. Si le continent ne représente que 5 % de la consommation d’énergie mondiale et des émissions de gaz à effet de serre, il est en revanche particulièrement exposé aux effets du changement climatique. Sa consommation d’énergie reste encore dominée par les usages de la biomasse pour la cuisson (et cela devrait perdurer). L’avènement des nouveaux modèles électriques marqués par la « révolution des 3D » fait émerger de nouvelles solutions sur le continent qui résultent de la combinaison de plusieurs innovations en matière d’énergies renouvelables, d’accumulateurs électriques, de réseaux intelligents et de paiement en ligne via le téléphone portable. |

| Summary, etc. | The energy sector is undergoing a period of profound change marked by what some people describe as the “3D” revolution involving the decarbonation, decentralization and digitization of the energy sector. Africa occupies a unique place in the face of such major change. While the continent represents only 5% of global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, it is particularly exposed to the effects of climate change. Its energy consumption remains largely dominated by the use of biomass for cooking (and that will likely continue). The advent of new electric models influenced by the “3D revolution” is introducing new solutions to the continent through a combination of several innovations surrounding renewable energy, storage batteries, intelligent networks and online payment via mobile telephones. |
