| Summary, etc. | Cet article tente de retracer la généalogie de la mémoire prospective et des avenirs nostalgiques au sein du nationalisme ivoirien. L’unité d’analyse choisie pour en périodiser les différentes phases est la célébration de la fête nationale, qui suscite souvent de vifs débats sur ce qui devrait être commémoré ou oublié, et sur la manière dont le passé est lié au présent et à l’avenir de la nation. L’article examine la présentation de la future nation ivoirienne et l’imaginaire de la nation en tant que modèle à partir des années 1960, discute des passés et des avenirs alternatifs sous l’impulsion de la Refondation à la veille du multipartisme, et aborde les concepts de renouveau et l’ambiguïté de commémorer Houphouët-Boigny lors des cinquantenaire et soixantenaire de l’indépendance. Bien que la célébration de la fête nationale soit largement orchestrée par le gouvernement, elle reste néanmoins porteuse d’un potentiel de rupture et de critique, par exemple via la réinterprétation des pratiques commémoratives et des représentations performatives de la nostalgie. |

| Summary, etc. | This article attempts to trace the genealogy of prospective memory and nostalgic futures within Ivorian nationalism. The unit of analysis chosen to periodize the different phases is the celebration of Côte d’Ivoire’s national holiday, which often gives rise to heated debates about what should be commemorated and what should be forgotten, as well as how the past relates to the nation’s present and future. The article examines the presentation of the future Ivorian nation and the imaginary of the nation as a model from the 1960s onwards; discusses alternative pasts and futures, prompted by the Refounding on the eve of the multiparty system; and addresses the concepts of renewal and the ambiguity of commemorating Houphouët-Boigny on the fiftieth and sixtieth anniversaries of independence. Although national holiday celebrations are largely orchestrated by the government, they nevertheless carry a potential for rupture and critique, for example through the reinterpretation of commemorative practices and performative representations of nostalgia. |
