| Summary, etc. | Entre la représentation imaginaire du monde et sa représentation savante, le dialogue est-il possible ? On voudrait montrer, à partir de l'analyse du roman de Philippe Claudel, que le monde inventé par l'écrivain porte un savoir qui entre en résonance avec celui du géographe. Mais l'absence de toute référence à une réalité localisée dans le temps ou l'espace semble placer l'histoire de Monsieur Linh hors du monde. C'est précisément cette absence qui montre la condition existentielle du déraciné, sous la figure d'un pays qui ne peut être nommé ni cartographié. En figurant l'exilé par son rapport à l'espace et au paysage, l'écrivain dit ce qu'est l'épreuve du déracinement, plus généralement de l'exclusion, et propose, au-delà, une réflexion sur la géographicité. |

| Summary, etc. | Is dialogue possible between the imaginary representation of the world and its scholarly counterpart ? The article aims to show, by analyzing Philippe Claudel's novel, that the world invented by the writer carries knowledge which resonates with that of the geographer. However, the lack of any reference to a reality located in time and space seems to place Mister Lihn's story outside the world. This is precisely the point : this absence shows the existential condition of the rootless person through the image of a country that cannot be named or mapped. By depicting the exile through his relations to the space and to the landscape, the writer tells of the experience of being uprooted, more generally of being subjected to exclusion. Beyond that, he offers a reflection on geographicity. |
