| Summary, etc. | Les documents laissés par les autorités de régulation des nuisances artisanales et industrielles permettent de mieux connaître l’histoire industrielle de Paris durant la Révolution française. Après une phase durant laquelle la municipalité concentre les pouvoirs de police détenus auparavant par plusieurs instances, l’État et ses échelons administratifs locaux (notamment le bureau central, puis la préfecture de police) prennent en charge la réglementation et la lutte contre les gênes et les pollutions des activités de production. Cette action, qui oscille entre le libéralisme et le souci de santé publique, révèle l’essor de certains secteurs industriels (par exemple la chimie ou la métallurgie qui utilise les acides forts) et des implantations renouvelées. Globalement, l’action publique de régulation des nuisances a plus accompagné que freiné l’industrialisation de la capitale. |

| Summary, etc. | The documents left by the authorites in charge of regulating artisanal and industrial polution shed light on the industrial history of Paris during the French Revolution. After a phase during which the Muncipality concentrated its policing powers in Paris previously held by several bodies, the State and its local administrative echelons (notably the Bureau Central, and later the Prefecture of Police) took charge of the regulation and fight against the problems and polution engendered by different aspects of production. This action, oscillating between liberalism on one hand and the concern for public health on the other, attests to the expansion of certain industrial sectors (for example, chemistry or metalurgy using powerful acids) and the new installations. Generally, the public action dealing with regulating polution went hand and hand with industrialization in the capital rather than slowing it down. |
