| Summary, etc. | En 1998 paraissait un article de Marc Cote, un géographe Français : « les oasis malades de trop d’eau ». Était pointé du doigt l’excédent hydrique dû aux irrigations à outrance qui résultaient de pratiques inappropriées et d’une gestion défaillante. La situation ne s’est guère améliorée depuis plus de 20 ans. Pire, la palmeraie se dégrade à cause de ce qui devait être son facteur de développement : l’eau. Nous passons en revue les logiques qui sous-tendent les modes de gestion actuels en tentant d’expliquer les raisons de tels dysfonctionnements. |

| Summary, etc. | In 1998 there appeared an article by Marc Cote, a French geographer : « les oasis malades de trop d’eau ». It pointed to excess water resulting from excessive irrigation and inappropriate practices which aggravate the situation by poor management. The situation has hardly improved in more than 20 years. Worse still, the palm grove is deteriorating because of what was supposed to be a development factor : water. The paper reviews the logic underlying the current management approaches by seeking to explain the reasons for such malfunctions. |
