| Summary, etc. | Le prieuré Saint-Gabriel présente de nombreux graffitis sur les murs de plusieurs bâtiments. Les thèmes évoqués sont très variés allant de la simple inscription aux symboles religieux, en passant par des représentations humaines et animales. Plusieurs graffitis de bateaux sont également présents, notamment sur le linteau de la cheminée de la « salle de justice ». Ces derniers composent une frise de quatre navires représentés à l’ancre. La schématisation de ces représentations permet toutefois de distinguer différents types de navires : un bâtiment de charge, un vaisseau de ligne, une frégate, une corvette, formant une petite division navale. Ces graffitis du xviiie siècle pourraient être associés à l’épisode du camp de Vaussieux en 1778, pendant la guerre d’Indépendance des États-Unis. |

| Summary, etc. | The Saint Gabriel priory presents numerous graffiti on the walls of several buildings. The themes evoked are very varied, ranging from simple engravings to religious symbols through human and animal representations. Several graffiti of boats are also present, in particular on the lintel of the chimney of the “hall of justice”. These make up a frieze of four anchored ships. The schematization of these representations makes it possible distinguish different types : a cargo ship, a ship of the line, a frigate, a corvette, forming a small naval division. These graffiti of the 18th century could be associated with the episode of Vaussieux camp in 1778, during the American Revolutionary War. |
