| Summary, etc. | Pour tenter de reconstituer le corpus et le volume de la Bibliothèque bleue rouennaise du xviiie siècle, la recherche mobilise les différentes sources d’archives à notre disposition. Est particulièrement exploité l’inventaire après décès de l’imprimeur-libraire Jean-François Behourt. Ce document recense pas moins de 533 953 exemplaires se rattachant à 188 titres (dont 119 pourvus d’un stock de plus de 1 000 exemplaires). Il dessine, en le rapprochant des inventaires troyens, un profil type de l’éditeur « bleu » du xviiie siècle, détenteur de presses, de titres et de stocks en quantités comparables d’un lieu à l’autre, et misant à 40 % au moins sur un répertoire religieux. Face à ce constat fondé sur les inventaires, le bilan de la conservation est bien maigre : 11 titres publiés par J.-F. Behourt ont été retrouvés sur les 40 titres les plus massivement représentés dans son inventaire — leçon de prudence dans l’approche de ce que fut la Bibliothèque bleue au dernier siècle de l’Ancien Régime. |

| Summary, etc. | To attempt to reconstitute the corpus and the size of the Rouen “Bibliothèque bleue” of the 18th century, the research enlists the different archival sources to our disposal. The inventory after death of the printer-bookseller Jean-François Behourt is especially utilised. This document identifies no less than 533,953 copies related to 188 titles (119 of which are had a stock of more than 1,000 copies). It depicts, by comparison with inventories of Troyes, a typical “blue” editor of the 18th century, owner of presses, titles and stocks in amounts comparable from one location to another, and who relied on a religious directory for at least 40% of his publications. In the face of this observation based on inventories, the preservation assessment is rather meagre: 11 titles published by J.-F. Behourt were found out of the 40 most massively represented his inventory – a lesson in prudence in the approach to what the Bibliothèque bleue was in the last century of the Ancien Régime. |
