| Summary, etc. | In this text, historian Jean Laloum looks back on his career as a committed researcher. From his master’s thesis on anti-Semitic propaganda in France in 1940-1944 to his doctoral dissertation on the Jewish world in the eastern suburbs of Paris and his habilitation on the policy of economic Aryanization in Algeria, Jean Laloum has not ceased to contribute, by following a micro-historical approach, collecting countless photographs and conducting numerous interviews, to shedding light on the fate of the Jews and their daily life during the Second World War. Complemented by his involvement in the association Mémoires Juives - Patrimoine photographique and the Conseil du patrimoine privé de la ville de Paris, Jean Laloum’s work has also led to the affixing of a plaque to the façade of the former UGIF children’s home in Montreuil in memory of the deported children and teachers, a pioneering step that paved the way for municipal policies in this area. |
