Ils les classent selon qu’ils sont « quantitatifs » ou « qualitatifs ». Cette représentation de leurs pratiques correspond aux ressources qu’ils ont acquises par socialisation et à la division sociale du travail d’analyse financière. En revanche, elle ne rend compte ni du sens technique des opérations d’analyse ni de la relation fonctionnelle qui les unit les unes aux autres. De ce fait, la forme de classification « quantitatif/qualitatif » opacifie les procédures d’analyse et préserve les professionnels de l’investissement du contrôle des fractions les moins initiées de leur clientèle. |

This categorization describes investment practices in a way that is akin to the symbolic and cognitive resources that professionals have acquired through past processes of socialization and a social division of labor within financial analysis. However, such categorization accounts neither for the technical meaning of analytic practices nor for the functional relationship between them and therefore masks the latent function of analytic procedures.
