520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This paper analyzes the way Raymond Boudon has interpreted Émile Durkheim’s theory. It stresses the fact that Boudon has reduced Durkheim’s theory to a theory of beliefs, neglecting therefore Durkheim’s emphasis on social pressure exerted through the belonging to groups and expressed by following cultural social norms and social rituals. The paper attempts consequently to highlight the role of such group integration and relates it to a typical outcome of social dilemma situations that can be interpreted as well in an “individualist” framework. |
