| Summary, etc. | Le 28 mars 1792, la Législative prononce l’amnistie de tous les crimes et délits relatifs à la Révolution française survenus à Avignon et dans le Comtat Venaissin avant le 8 novembre 1791, date de la proclamation du rattachement des anciens états pontificaux à la France. Cette décision controversée laisse aux juges la possibilité de reléguer le massacre de la Glacière, perpétré en octobre 1791, dans l’oubli juridique. Les auteurs de ces crimes, finalement libérés, profitent d’une clémence ambiguë et presque embarrassée. C’est la démarche adoptée par l’Assemblée pour prononcer cette amnistie puis la procédure suivie par les juges pour confirmer son application aux individus détenus pour avoir participé au massacre de la Glacière qu’aborde cet article. Son ambition est d’apporter un éclairage sur un usage particulier des mesures d’amnistie, mais aussi de contribuer à la compréhension de la période qui correspond aux derniers mois de la monarchie française. |

| Summary, etc. | On March 28, 1792, the Legislative Assembly issued an amnesty for all crimes and misdemeanors related to the French Revolution that had occurred in Avignon and the Comtat Venaissin before November 8, 1791, the date of the proclamation of the attachment of the former Papal States to France. This controversial decision gave judges the opportunity to consign the Glacière massacre perpetrated in October 1791 to legal oblivion. The perpetrators of these crimes, finally freed, benefited from an ambiguous and almost embarrassing clemency. It is precisely the approach adopted by the Legislative Assembly to grant this amnesty, and the procedure followed by the judges to confirm its application to individuals detained for having participated in the Glacière massacre that this article will be examining. It aims to shed light not only on a special use of amnesty measures, but in a larger way to contribute to the understanding of the period corresponding to the last months of the French monarchy. |
