| Summary, etc. | Cet article s’intéresse aux transformations connues par l’industrie roumaine de l’habillement durant ces trente dernières années. En mobilisant plusieurs types de données (archives, entretiens, observations, etc.), mon principal objectif est de saisir au concret les multiples formes de « continuité » et « rupture » qui s’instaurent lors de l’effondrement de l’économie planifiée. Si la théorie sociologique de la path dependancy fournit quelques pistes intéressantes pour aborder cette problématique, sa focalisation sur les déterminations macro sociales des activités économiques fait l’impasse sur la complexité des choix et stratégies individuelles qui émergent pendant les années 1990. Or, il n’en reste pas moins important de souligner la diversité des trajectoires individuelles et cela à l’intérieur même d’un secteur supposé dominé par une seule logique économique. |

| Summary, etc. | The Romanian clothing industry put to the test of time : between communist legacy and capitalist learning experienceThe changes experienced by the Romanian clothing industry over the past 30 years are examined in this article. Several types of data are drawn upon (archive records, interviews, observations and so on) with the objective of defining in concrete terms the manifold forms of “continuity” and “breakaway” which came into play with the collapse of the planned economy. The sociological theory of path dependency provides some pointers on how to analyse this question, but its strong focus on the macro-social determinations of economic activities cannot cut through the complexity of choices and individual strategies that emerged during the 1990s. However, it remains important to emphasize the diversity of individual paths followed _ within a sector presumed to be dominated solely by economic criteria. |
