| Summary, etc. | Le concept de régulation est au cœur des sciences modernes du vivant et détermine les catégories du normal et du pathologique. Nous proposons ici d’esquisser les conditions historiques et conceptuelles qui ont amené Peter Sterling et Joseph Eyer à introduire, en 1988, la notion d’allostasie. Nous montrons à quelles conditions cette dernière rompt avec les concepts antérieurs comme ceux de milieu intérieur et d’homéostasie. Nous insistons sur l’importance grandissante que le modèle allostatique accorde à la cérébralité, ainsi qu’aux déterminants sociaux. Cette articulation nous mène finalement à nous interroger sur les rapports qu’entretiennent normativité sociale et pathologie. |

| Summary, etc. | The concept of regulation is the core concept of modern life science and determines the categories of the normal and the pathological. Here we propose to sketch out the historical and conceptual conditions that drove Peter Sterling and Joseph Eyer to introduce, in 1988, the notion of allostasis. We show to what extent it breaks with antecedent concepts such as those of internal milieu and homeostasis. We insist on the growing interest it gives to cerebrality and social influence. We finally question the relations between social normativity and pathologies. |
