| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article interroge les normes et les valeurs introduites dans les relations nouées entre employeurs et employés, paysans et entrepreneurs laotiens et chinois, qui se mettent en place progressivement depuis une dizaine d’années dans le nord du Laos. À travers quelques exemples tirés d’enquêtes ethnographiques menées dans les basses terres de la province de Phongsaly, l’article montre l’importance pour les entrepreneurs laotiens d’instaurer, pour maintenir la « face » de leurs employés, des relations de réciprocité, comme substitut aux anciennes relations horizontales de coopération entre paysans. |

| Summary, etc. | Labor relations in rural Laos: Lao peasant’s moral economy and the ethic of the business ownersThis article examines the norms and the values introduced into the relations established between employers and employees, peasants and Laotian and Chinese entrepreneurs, as that which is being developed these last ten years in Northern Laos. Through some examples of ethnographic surveys conducted in the lowlands of Phongsaly Province, the article shows the importance for Lao entrepreneurs to establish reciprocal relations to save the “face” of their employees, as a substitute for the old horizontal relations of cooperation between peasants. |
