520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Identification, characterisation and assessment of organic manure management by farmers: sources of innovation? The use of organic manure in mixed farming systems in West Africa is essential for their sustainability and productivity. Some farmers are developing atypical organic manure management techniques. Are these techniques potential sources of innovation? In the West of Burkina Faso, we identified various atypical organic manure management practices, analysed the logic of action of farmers and described underlying local knowledge. Multi-criteria assessment of the performances of a typical system, compared to reference systems allowed a better understanding of sustainability and identification of original organic manure management practices (marketing V/S diversification of production). Without being transposable, these atypical organic manure management practices are sources of learning for the co-design of innovative management of organic manure based on local knowledge.
