| Summary, etc. | R ésumé – La condamnation du prétendu « mauvais style » de Balzac a été l’un des dogmes de la critique littéraire, indiscuté jusque vers 1950 environ. Puis les approches poéticiennes du récit, parallèlement au développement d’une génétique scientifique des textes, ont modifié la lecture de La Comédie humaine. Si la discipline universitaire dite « stylistique » a dû attendre son renouvellement en profondeur dans les années 1980 par les acquis de la linguistique de l’énonciation pour proposer une approche non normative de la langue romanesque, les résultats n’ont cessé, depuis, de s’affiner, dans des travaux réguliers toujours plus exigeants. |

| Summary, etc. | A bstract – The condemning of Balzac’s alleged “bad style” was one of the dogmas of literary criticism, unchallenged until about 1950. At that point, poetics’ approaches to the narrative, in parallel with the development of scientific textual genetics, changed the reading of La Comédie humaine. While the academic discipline known as “stylistics” had to wait until the 1980s before undergoing a root-and-branch renewal through the achievements of the linguistics of enunciation and before offering a non-prescriptive approach to the language of fiction, the results have since continued to develop in ever more thorough sustained analyses. |
