| Summary, etc. | Parmi les Caiçaras, un peuple de pêcheurs traditionnels de la côte sud et sud-est du Brésil, on note l’existence d’une forte endogamie inter- et intra-communautaire à laquelle répondent deux formes de récit : l’une, « secrète », qui se rapporte aux cas d’unions entre proches parents et germains, l’autre, « publique », qui renvoie aux unions entre cousins. Cet article analyse les récits et les manifestations de peur qui se rattachent à certaines unions endogames. Pourquoi certaines unions entre cousins ou entre parents « proches » font-elles l’objet de craintes, de critiques et de ragots alors que ce n’est pas le cas d’autres mariages généalogiquement tout aussi proches ? L’article essaie de montrer comment la théorie de parenté caiçara fondée sur l’idée de « même sang » ( mesmo sangue) permet d’expliquer ce paradoxe apparent. |

| Summary, etc. | The Caiçaras, a traditional fishing population of the south and southwest coast of Brazil, are known to be highly endogamous. Narratives about unions that are considered incestuous or/and dangerous are highly popular and circulate within and among neighbouring communities. This article examines these narratives to understand what distinguishes incestuous from non-incestuous unions, and what makes some non-incestuous unions dangerous. I show how Caçaira kinship theory based on the idea of “same blood” (mesmo sangue) explains what makes specific unions between cross-cousins dangerous and not others. |
