| Summary, etc. | Les contraintes actuelles de l’hôpital renforcent la nécessité de la mise en œuvre d’un pilotage au sein des établissements de santé. Il s’agit, dans cet article, d’évaluer la possibilité d’adapter un outil, le tableau de bord prospectif (TBP) pour satisfaire ce nouveau besoin managérial dans ce contexte spécifique. Après avoir présenté la notion de contrôle et de pilotage à l’hôpital, deux approches sont mobilisées. Une analyse ontologique permet de souligner les convergences et les divergences entre cet outil et son utilisation potentielle dans le contexte hospitalier. Une analyse empirique menée à partir d’une démarche de recherche-action permet d’analyser l’apport des quatre axes définis dans le TBP au pilotage de la performance de l’hôpital. |

| Summary, etc. | Management of Health Care Organisations: from External Control to piloting, usefulness and adaptability of Balanced ScorecardHospitals today are facing new constraints which reinforce the utility of management tools for directing this type of organization. This article aims to evaluate whether the balanced scorecard would be useful in satisfying this new need for management. First, we present the evolution of control and piloting in hospitals. In the second section, an ontological approach underlines convergences and divergences between this tool and its potential use in hospitals. Finally an empirical approach with two case studies analyses the usefulness of the four categories of measures of the balanced scorecard in managing hospital performance. |
