| Summary, etc. | RésuméCette étude expérimentale, réalisée auprès d’étudiants d’un cours de vérification externe II (n = 64), a pour objectif de déterminer l’impact de l’utilisation d’une méthode d’enseignement autre que le cours magistral, soit une simulation en vérification, sur la performance et sur les perceptions des étudiants à l’égard des habiletés requises pour réussir une carrière à titre de vérificateur. Concernant la performance des étudiants, le groupe ayant participé à la simulation a obtenu une meilleure performance que le groupe ayant reçu un enseignement magistral. Cependant, la différence entre les groupes, lorsque la force académique et le sexe sont pris en compte, résulte du fait que la simulation a été bénéfique aux femmes mais contre-productive pour les hommes. Concernant les perceptions, la comparaison après l’expérience des changements de perceptions des deux groupes indique que les étudiants du groupe expérimental accordent une plus grande importance aux relations interpersonnelles, à la communication écrite, et à la mémorisation des procédés de vérification. |

| Summary, etc. | Learning using an audit simulation: impact on students’ performance and perceptionsThe objective of this experimental study with students registered in an audit course (n = 64) is to determine the impact of using a teaching method other than lecturing, namely an audit simulation, on students’ performance and perceptions regarding the skills needed to succeed as an auditor. Students participating in the audit simulation performed better than students being lectured. However, after controlling for academic performance and gender, it seems that the simulation benefited to women but was counter productive for men. Comparison of perceptions between the experimental and control groups after the experience indicates a greater change for the students of the experimental group concerning the importance granted to interpersonal relationships, written communication and memorisation of audit procedures. |
