| Summary, etc. | A partir d’un fonds d’archive départemental (Ain), l’article examine les sanctions (autres que simples réprimandes) infligées à des instituteurs et institutrices publics et privés pour fautes professionnelles, entre 1886 et 1913. Il établit d’abord un bref panorama de l’arsenal juridique dont dispose l’administration, en l’occurrence le conseil départemental de l’enseignement primaire. Il dépeint ensuite la situation de l’enseignement primaire dans le département concerné, au début de la période, et dresse – à partir de l’archive – les tableaux relatifs au nombre des sanctions et à la nature des motifs invoqués. Dans sa troisième partie, il analyse les dossiers de plusieurs instituteurs et institutrices sanctionnés (pour inconduites, tricheries, insubordinations, atteintes à la neutralité). Il conclut en tentant de formuler une appréciation sur la politique disciplinaire des Républicains. |

| Summary, etc. | ? Ruling and sentence given by the conseil départemental against primary schools’teachers concerning official misconduct : the case of Ain department. F rom a departmental collection of archives (Ain), the article examines the penalties (others than simple reprimands) imposed on public and private primary school teachers for professional misconducts, between 1886 and 1913. It establishes at first a brief panorama of the legal arsenal at Administration’s disposal, in this particular case the departmental council of the primary education. Then it tries to paint the situation of the primary education in the concerned department, at the beginning of the period, and draws up – from the archives – the boards relative to the penalties and to the nature of the called motives. In its third part, it analyzes the cases of several primary school teachers (sanctioned for misbehaviors, deceits, insubordinations, attacks on neutrality). It ends by trying to formulate an appreciation on the disciplinary policy of the Republicans |
