| Summary, etc. | Leontief a peu écrit sur la politique économique, car il était fondamentalement un économiste appliqué, préoccupé de développer la théorie permettant d’expliquer des phénomènes réels. Ses contributions les plus importantes sont associées à des modèles d’équilibre qui rendent la politique publique inutile. Cependant, cet article explore quelques écrits de Leontief en rapport avec trois exemples concernant la politique économique, à savoir le programme d’aide du gouvernement des Etats-Unis destiné à lutter contre les effets de la récession des années 1930, la théorie de la demande effective de Keynes et l’étude des impacts économiques du désarmement. Tout bien considéré, il apparaît qu’avec l’âge ses opinions sur le rôle de la politique économique sont devenues plus flexibles, bien qu’il n’ait pas modifié ses conclusions antérieures sur l’équilibre économique. |

| Summary, etc. | W. Leontief seldom wrote about economic policy; he was primarily an applied economist concerned with the development of relevant theory for explaining actual phenomena. His more important contributions are associated with equilibrium models that make public policy unnecessary. Nevertheless, this paper explores a few of Leontief’s writings regarding three examples in which such policies are involved, specifically the US government Relief Programme addressing the consequences of the 1930s recession, Keynes’ effective demand theory and the economic impacts of disarmament. On balance, it appears that later in life his views became more flexible in terms of the role of economic policies, although he did not revise his earlier conclusions on economic equilibrium.
