| Summary, etc. | Résumé La question du deuil intéresse la notion de primitif en ce qu’elle renvoie l’individu à des angoisses primaires de souffrance, d’abandon, de désêtre. Il me semble alors essentiel de comprendre et d’entendre, chez certains patients endeuillés, « l’archaïque régressif », selon l’expression de Freud, afin de saisir ce qui peut se symboliser de la violence du deuil. Perdre l’autre ouvre à un savoir psychique sur la destruction. La violence faite à l’endeuillé s’inscrit dans la résurgence de ses fantasmes de meurtre, ses vœux de mort. Afin d’éviter le contact avec cette violence, la vie psychique de l’endeuillé s’est neutralisée, pétrifiée. Un détour vers les chasseurs de têtes de Mélanésie et de Papouasie peut tenter d’éclairer les mécanismes de cette « régression archaïque ». L’enjeu clinique est ici de permettre aux patients endeuillés un mouvement de régression psychique afin d’éviter l’effondrement mélancolique. |

| Summary, etc. | The question of mourning is a matter of great interest in regards to the notion of the primitive, in that it sends the individual back to the primal fears of suffering, of abandonment, of non-being. It seems to me that it is essential to understand and to listen to « the archaic regressive », according to Freud’s expression, of certain patients who are plunged into grief, in order to grasp what can be symbolized by the violence of mourning. Losing the other one, opens one up to a psychological or psychic awareness of destruction. The violence experienced by the mourner is registered within the resurgence of one’s fantasy concerning murder, one’s death wish. In order to avoid contact with this violence, the mourner’s psychological life has neutralized itself, has petrified itself. A detour towards the headhunters from Melanesia and Papua New Guinea may possibly attempt to clarify the mechanisms of this « archaic regression ». The clinical issue here is to allow the mourning patients, the manifestation of the impulses of psychological regression, in order to avoid a melancholic collapse. |
