Summary, etc. | Myasthenia is a chronic neuromuscular disease linked to a transmission defect between nerve and muscle. Diagnosis is often difficult for the clinician.ObjectiveTo contribute to the management of patients suffering from myasthenia.MethodologyThis was a prospective study conducted over a two-year period in the neurology department of the Amirou Boubacar Diallo national hospital.ResultsTwelve patients suffering from myasthenia were diagnosed. Females predominated with 75% of cases. The age group most affected was between 20 and 40 years in 58 %. Pupils and students accounted for 92% of myasthenia patients. Consanguinity was found in 17% of patients. Limb muscle weakness and bilateral ptosis were the predominant clinical manifestations in 100% and 58% of cases respectively. The prostigmin test was positive in all patients. All patients diagnosed with myasthenia were on corticosteroids, and 92 % were on anticholinesterase agents. Partial improvement was noted in 75 % of patients, and marked improvement in 25%.ConclusionMyasthenia gravis is a rare chronic neuromuscular disease. Early treatment improves prognosis. |

Summary, etc. | La myasthénie est une maladie neuromusculaire chronique liée à un défaut de la transmission entre le nerf et le muscle. Le diagnostic est souvent difficile pour le clinicien.Objectifcontribuer à la prise en charge des patients souffrant de myasthénie.Méthodologieil s’agit d’une étude prospective sur une période de deux ans, réalisée au service de neurologie de l’hôpital national Amirou Boubacar Diallo.Résultats12 malades souffrant de myasthénie ont été diagnostiqués. Le sexe féminin était prédominant (75 % des cas), et la tranche d’âge la plus représentée est celle des 20-40 ans (58 %). Les élèves et les étudiants représentaient 92 % des patients. Une consanguinité est constatée chez 17 % des patients. La faiblesse musculaire des membres et le ptosis bilatéral étaient les manifestations cliniques prédominantes, représentant respectivement 100 et 58 % des cas. Le test à la prostigmine était positif chez tous les patients. Tous les sujets étaient sous corticothérapies et 92 % étaient sous anticholinestérasiques. Une amélioration est observée chez tous les patients : partielle chez 75 % et nette chez 25 %.Conclusionla myasthénie est une maladie neuromusculaire chronique rare. Une prise en charge précoce améliore le pronostic de cette maladie. |
