| Summary, etc. | Entre 1939 et 1975, l’idéologie de la dictature franquiste force les barrières de la sphère privée pour imposer des normes qui vont à contre-courant de l’évolution des sociétés occidentales du XXe siècle. Rapportant les paroles d’Espagnoles nées dans les années 1930 et 1950, l’auteur montre que l’espace du foyer est le domaine de confinement des femmes, qui s’affairent à des activités jugées féminines. À l’image du gynécée grec, les filles sont éduquées par les femmes des générations précédentes pour reproduire un modèle d’inégalité des sexes. Elles sont laissées dans une ignorance organisée qui vise à restreindre leur autonomie. Selon ce modèle de socialisation, les filles sont confinées dans un univers féminin qui les prépare à fonder, à terme, leur propre gynécée. Ces filles vont pourtant se mobiliser pour s’échapper du gynécée et conquérir des espaces de liberté. |

| Summary, etc. | FRANCOIST GYNAECIUM Between 1939 and 1975 Francoist ideology broke down the barriers of privacy, forcing norms on women that went go against the evolutionary trend of Western societies during the 20th century. Based on about fifty interviews with Spanish women born in the 1930s and 1950s, the household under Francoist rule appears to represent the domain of confinement for women, in which they are expected to carry out activities considered to be uniquely feminine. Here, young women were educated by women of the older generations and reproduced a model of gender separation and inequality. Young women were thus left in an organized ignorance aimed at restricting their autonomy. In this model of socialisation, women were confined by women within a feminine environment where they were trained, in turn, to found their own gynaeceum. These young women were, however, to mobilise in order to escape the gynaeceum and conquer spaces of liberty. |
