| Summary, etc. | On the basis of the baptismal registers and ledgers of the Dubrovnik foundling home, as well as other sources kept mainly at the State Archives in Dubrovnik, the godparent network of the Dubrovnik foundlings from the late seventeenth till the mid-nineteenth centuries is examined. The paper also analysed the presence or absence of godparents, their number and social background along with their role in the creation of the foundling’s identity. |
