En partant de l’exemple de l’Allemagne du xviie siècle, il montre qu’il faut tenir compte non seulement du statut du locuteur, mais encore du contexte d’élocution et du (des) destinataire(s) : selon que le discours est destiné à la scène publique impériale, ou au contraire à demeurer dans les arcanes du territoire, la révolte n’est pas présentée sous le même jour, et ce sont des éléments différents qui sont mis en avant (désobéissance, violence ou organisation collective). |

| Summary, etc. | (Not) Describing the Revolt: Lords and Subjects React to Disobedience in Saxony and Thuringia in the Second Half of the Seventeenth Century This article analyzes the way that revolt is described or passed over in silence by the two principal parties involved in it: those governing and those governed. Using the example of seventeenth-century Germany as its point of departure, it shows that not only must the status of the speaker be taken into account—the context of a statement and its recipient(s) must be, too. Depending on whether a speech is intended for the imperial public sphere or, on the contrary, is supposed to remain a local secret, revolt is not presented in the same light, and different elements are spotlighted (disobedience, violence, and collective organization). |
