Summary, etc. Family dynamics and space settlement are in the heart of this research. The studied population has been recorded from 1860 to 1950 in a small street in the downtown of a municipality on the outskirts of Lille. It revealed the specific contribution of family links in the duration and location of residence of observed people. And if the 'rest of the world'? permanently remains quite inaccessible to some residents, it is because they are part of extended families with high life expectancy, low infant mortality, and little sensitive to economic change jobs. It is also because these families successfully adjust the land they bought prior to urbanization to their professional activities, mainly craft or local shops. At the same time, for other residents, this street is only a transitory stopping place, in a slightly polarized area of migration, in which Lille is increasingly present as family links become looser. So, specific temporalities'?individual, collective, economic and historical'?linked to family networks are crucial to understand the trajectories of these residents, and therefore their contribution to the urbanization of this city.
