| Summary, etc. | Lors des élections générales qui se sont déroulées au Burundi en 2010 et en République démocratique du Congo (RDC) en 2011, de nombreux projets ont été initiés par des bailleurs de fonds et opérateurs internationaux, afin de permettre aux médias de mieux remplir leurs missions. Cet article s’interroge sur les modalités de cet appui aux acteurs du secteur médiatique, en confrontant les objectifs visés par les partenaires étrangers et les réalités du terrain. Rappelant le contexte politique particulier dans lequel ces scrutins se sont déroulés, il tente d’identifier les caractéristiques des médias, des institutions et des pratiques journalistiques locales qui semblent avoir été sous-estimées dans la conception et la mise en œuvre de ces projets. |

This article examines the modalities of assistance to reporters and media outlets, comparing the stated aims of the foreign partners with what really happened. As the author reviews the specific political context of the elections, she attempts to identify the characteristics of the institutions, media and local journalistic practices that the project designers and aid workers seem to have underestimated. |
