Summary, etc. | M ai 68 a fait éclater le consensus qui s’était établi dans les années 1960 autour de la nécessité de libéraliser l’école, au nom notamment de sa nécessaire modernisation. Une cristallisation idéologique dont on se propose de repérer les étapes et les vecteurs a en effet conduit à politiser ce projet, rendant le débat impossible. La modernisation de l’école devient alors un objectif secondaire, tandis que sa libéralisation concentre les critiques, à la faveur d’un nouveau consensus qui, au début des années 1980, se fait autour d’un discours né dans les milieux conservateurs. Les rêves de libération étant dès lors écartés pour de bon, la modernisation de l’école peut redevenir un objectif prioritaire et s’accompagner d’une libéralisation, qui a désormais une tout autre signification. |

Summary, etc. | ✓ May 68 and the paradoxes of the modernization of french schools M ai 68 broke off the consensus established during the 60’s around the necessity of liberalizing school, notably in the name of its necessary modernization. An ideological crystallization we will notice the steps and the carriers lead to the politization of this project, making the debate impossible. The modernization of school became thus a secondary aim, while its liberalization is highly criticized, thanks to a new consensus made, at begining of the 80’s, around views originating in the conservative milieu. The dreams of liberation being definitely set apart, school modernization can then be a priority again and be joined to a liberalization carrying a totally different meaning. |
